[chapter twenty-two]
Disclaimer: If you've heard of them, I don't own them. Everything else is mine, so no stealing, pretty please. ;-)
This story is gonna be darker, and deal with serious, sometimes disturbing
issues. Just so everyone knows. Okay? Okay.

~Jimmie's POV~
I have no fingernails left.
Mostly because all I've done since I burst through the emergency room doors and had them take Faye away from me is bite them while I sit in this goddamned waiting room.
"Mr. Johnson?"
"Yes!" I burst out, standing up and approaching the kindly looking doctor who is holding out her hand for me to shake.
"Hi, I'm Doctor Rogers." She says gently. "Faye is resting comfortably. We've given her some painkillers and gotten some of the swelling in her face and abdomen down. I've called the police so she can file a report - when they arrive, have them page me so I can give them the rape evidence and injury report. She's in room 112 - you can go see her, if you like."
What?
WHAT?
"Say that again?" I ask shakily, and she looks at me in confusion.
"Which part?"
"She was she was " I can't bring myself to say the words.
"Mr. Johnson? Are you alright?"
The room is spinning really fast.
I think I'm going to throw up.
He raped her.
He raped her.
He fucking attacked her and raped her.
I don't think I can handle this.
"I'm which room was she in?"
"Mr. Johnson, Miss Reginor has suffered a lot of physical and emotional damage this evening. If you aren't able to keep it together "
"I am. I'm sorry. I just didn't realize she'd been "
Dr. Rogers nods. "I understand. I would suggest you don't push the issue - rape victims generally don't want to push the charges, or discuss the incident. But she is going to need your support whatever she decides."
"I understand." I say, shaking her hand again and walking slowly towards room 112.
I don't care what it takes, I'm getting her through this.
Whatever she needs, whatever she wants.
Just so long as she knows she can count on me to be there every step of the way.
Assuming I don't pass out or go apeshit before I reach her room.
Keep it together, Johnson.
She needs you.
