"Okay, I think you're computer is now 'Chad-Proof'." Mia said, patting the top of the computer affectionately. "After the workout you've given her lately, especially."
"Her?" Chad asked curiously.
"Yeah. Computers are hers. At least in my world." Mia explained, picking up her bag.
"How come?" Chad asked. "Because they are sensitive and temperamental?" He asked with an evil grin.
"No." Mia said with an equally evil grin. "Because they put up with men's shit all the time and still refuse to break."
Chad's jaw dropped slightly as Mia raised her eyebrows at him, willing him to retort. He closed his mouth again and said nothing, relishing Mia's look of triumph.
"And by the way, next time you pour a beer on your keyboard, don't call me." Mia added. "I don't do keyboard cleanup."
"Who does?" Chad asked.
"I don't know, but I gave you a freebie this time. Don't let it happen again." Mia said, opening the front door.
"I won't." Chad said, following her outside. "Hey I was thinking the new Keanu Reeves movie comes out tomorrow. Wanna catch a show?"
Mia froze in her tracks before turning around to face him slowly. "Chad thanks, but "
"I know. No." Chad said, looking down and kicking a small rock with his shoe.
Mia shrugged in apology as she turned towards her car. "Maybe some other time."
"Do you like me?" Chad asked on impulse.
"What?" Mia questioned, turning back around.
"Do you?"
"Of I well, yeah. If I didn't, I'd charge you a lot more for computer repair." Mia answered and Chad shook his head vigorously.
"Not the damn computer. Do you like me?" He repeated.
"Yeah." She said, her
voice small. "Yeah." She turned away to flee. "I'll see ya."
