"That was so fucking cool!" Chad gushed as he and Mia walked out of the movie theatre hand in hand.
"Want me to start calling you Neo?" Mia teased.
"Only if you promise to buy me a big long dress coat thing like he had." Chad said, sticking out his tongue at her.
**
"Wow, you really know how to impress girls with mature dates." Mia smiled.
"Hey, I gave you a choice. Putt-putt or Chuck-E-Cheese. My fate lays solely in your hands." Chad said solemnly.
Mia could only shake her head as she giggled.
**
Mia lay in bed, smiling at the ceiling. She seemed to be suffering from serious permagrin lately. Every night Chad had been in town and not in a clandestine meeting, they had gone out.
For three weeks straight.
This was more like it.
And she found herself like Chad's quirky geekness more appealing every time she saw him.
And she hoped he felt the same way.
**
Mia rested her head on Chad's shoulder as they sat on his back porch, sipping beers and making small talk. Chad was exhausted from a marathon meeting, Mia from an overly demanding client.
"I should really get going." Mia murmured. "Mind if I check my email really quick?"
"Sure, go for it." Chad said, standing up and pulling Mia to her feet before wrapping her in a warm hug for several seconds. "I wish "
"What?" Mia asked, tilting her head up to look at him.
Chad dropped a kiss onto her lips and shook his head. "Nothin'."
"Okay." Mia said, trailing him into the house slowly and heading directly for the office, where she knew Chad's computer was perpetually booted and ready. Quickly, she checked all of her email accounts and was ready to log off and grab her coat when Chad sauntered into the room with a grin.
"What?" Mia asked with a smile.
"Nothin'." Chad said again, smiling at the memory of trapping her in his arms in this very office.
"I know this look." Mia said wisely.
"What look?" Chad said, struggling to look innocent.
"Never mind." Mia said shyly.
"Mia?" Chad asked softly.
"Hmm?" She replied.
"Stay."
"I shouldn't." She answered quietly.
"Stay anyway." Chad said, moving forward slowly to wrap his arms around her.
Mia closed her eyes, silently wrestling with her emotions - emotions that were completely erased as Chad gently began nibbling on her bottom lip. "Please?" He asked.
For a long moment, their eyes met, warring with each other until Mia smiled a little, relenting. Chad grinned like a little boy as he moved her backwards towards the desk until she was pressed between it and his body - just like before.
After a few moments of frenzied groping, Chad lifted Mia slightly, planting her bottom on the edge of the desk as he captured her earlobe in his mouth. "Mia " He breathed and she shuddered beneath him at the feel of his body, the feel of his breath.
Hastily, buttons were undone, shoes kicked off as Mia and Chad continued to explore each other's bodies until Mia shrieked.
"Chad! Omigod! We just knocked the computer off your desk!" She cried out.
"You can fix it tomorrow." Chad said with a laugh, tugging on her hand to place her back on the floor. "I have a better idea "
Mia giggled as she followed Chad
from the darkened office down the hall to his bedroom.
