"Okay, Faye, I think you're good to go." Mia said, brushing her hands across her hips to rid herself of some dust. "Looks like your broadband was configured incorrectly, so I fixed that, and some virus was bugging on your files - that's why the error. But it's fixed." She said with a smile.
"You are the greatest!" Faye said, patting her computer affectionately before squeezing Mia into a hug.
"Wow. Geek bonding." Jimmie teased from his perch on the couch next to Chad as he watched the girls discuss the computer.
"Shuddup." Faye said, sticking her tongue out. "Mia, something to drink? We can crash on the porch and have girly talk."
"Sounds great." Mia grinned as she followed Faye to the kitchen.
"That's okay!" Jimmie called. "We'll stay here and have our own manly talk." The girls laughed in response as they retreated, leaving Chad and Jimmie alone.
There was silence between them for several seconds before Jimmie broke it. "So. Uh, how 'bout them Bears?"
Mia and Faye settled into the lawn furniture with muted sighs, sipping their iced tea and taking in the breeze. "So." Faye said with a smile.
"So. That's The Chad, huh?" Mia asked over her glass.
"Yep. That's The Chad." Faye laughed.
"He's " Mia struggled for the right word. "Weird."
"Extremely." Faye giggled. "But I think that's why we love him. He's been having a bad couple of weeks - I hope he wasn't overly barbaric to you."
"No, he was fine. Except for watching Lifetime. That was weird too."
"He doesn't have cable. Right now." Faye explained haltingly.
"Ah." Mia nodded. "He's he's sorta cute."
"Want me to fix you up?" Faye grinned.
"NO." Mia sighed. "I just said he was cute. But the weird was the crux of my conversation."
"Damn. I bet you'd make a cute couple."
"Leave it, Faye."
"Left it." Faye smiled.

"But he's so cute, and she's so cute!" Faye whined as Jimmie turned
down the covers on their bed.
"Faye " Jimmie said warningly. "Chad and Mia don't need Yenta Faye trying to set them up. Leave them alone."
"But I want everyone to be happy!" Faye said, crawling into bed beside Jimmie and curling up against his side.
"Like us?" Jimmie murmured into her hair.
"Yeah. Like us." Faye said softly. "You're happy, right?"
"In what sense of the word?" Jimmie teased, rolling over to press his body against hers.
"That's not what I meant, you perv!" Faye giggled as she playfully slapped away his roving hands.
"Ooh I love it when you talk dirty to me, honey." Jimmie growled against her throat as Faye giggled again and thonked him on the head with a pillow.
"Let me go, you savage!" She shrieked as he rolled her over on top of him, both of them laughing and smiling as they shed their clothes.
Down the hall, Chad covered his head with a pillow to hide the sounds of laughter and what sounded like a wrestling match coming from Jimmie and Faye's room. They were too cute for words, but sometimes it killed him to be alone, married to nothing but a hunk of metal in a race shop.
Oh well, he'd meet a girl someday.
