~Shea's POV~
I can't get over how good Jimmie is with my mother.
I get off work and come home to find him here, going through her photo album and listening to her tell stories about people he's never met.
I'm assuming he doesn't work much during the week, because he doesn't seem to be there much these days.
I mean, he's still on TV on Sundays, so I'm guessing he still has a job.
"Hey." He says with a smile, standing up and giving me a quick kiss. "Your mom was just telling me about when you were a little girl. Rascal." He says softly and I smile in return.
"Hi Mama. How are you?" I say, kissing her forehead and smoothing down her hair. "Did you have a good day?"
"Oh yes. James here has been listening to me prattle on." She says lucidly and I give a silent prayer of thanks that it's a good day.
"You haven't been telling him anything bad about me, have you?" I tease and I hear Jimmie laugh. "Has she, James?" I wink at him.
"Nothing too bad." He concedes. "How about I go get us some dinner. Mrs. Waterson, what would you like to eat?"
"Watermelon." She answers promptly and Jimmie laughs again.
"Watermelon it is." Jimmie says, wrapping me into a quick hug. "What about you, beautiful?"
"Anything is fine." I say softly. "Thanks."
"My pleasure."
And with that, he's out the door, whistling as he steps onto the front stoop.
This man is not to be believed.
Not in my universe, anyway.
Damn, I should have given him some money for dinner.
Even though I know he wouldn't have taken it.
Bastard.
But such a cute, cocky, adorable bastard.
I really need to stop this. I need to stop all these feelings, before I wake up and realize it was a dream.
"Mama, do you want to change into your jammies before he gets back with your watermelon?"
"What?"
"Mama, do you want to change?"
"No. I don't want to change. I want to stay right here. You can't make me go!"
"Mama "
"Silly girl. Wanting me to move."
With a sigh, I realize that just as quickly as she was here, my mother is gone again.
