Even as Nya was enjoying the impromptu make out session in the middle of her driveway, her head was screaming for her to take action and stop this madness.
Valiantly, her heart and her head argued back and forth until finally a decision was made.
"Stop." She said, putting her hands on Jamie's chest and pushing him away from her. "This is very...not good."
"Actually, I thought it was very good." Jamie smiled, trying to twine his arms around her again, but she swatted at his hands.
"Stop." She repeated. Immediately, Jamie backed away and put his hands to his sides, obeying her command, his face filled with consternation and hurt.
"I'm sorry?" He said, his voice filled with confusion.
"Yeah, you better be." Nya said, putting her hands on her hips and glaring at him. "Taking advantage of me in my...weakened state."
"Should I go put my leather pants back on?" Jamie asked, gesturing towards the house.
Nya looked up to the sky and ordered herself not to laugh. "No. I don't think even the pants can save you now."
"Well, damn." Jamie said, yanking off his sunglasses to look at her, wincing in pain as he did so. Hastily, he put them back on his nose and assumed his own don't-mess-with-me stance, arms crossed across his chest. "I'm getting some mixed signals here, Nya."
"Stop looking for signals." Nya ordered. "Put your satellite away."
"But I was getting great reception a few minutes ago." Jamie said petulantly.
Nya sighed, feeling genuinely bad for him, and for herself. "I just...this is...odd." She concluded with a shrug.
"Odd?"
"Yes."
"Making out in your driveway is odd? I thought everyone did that. I know I did it in high school. Well, at least once, with some girl who felt sorry for me." Jamie said, as though talking to himself.
Nya smiled. "I'm sure that wasn't the case, but yes, this is odd. For me." She paused, then continued. "We don't really have driveways like this in England. Maybe I'm thrown by the geographical location."
"We could always..." Jamie pointed to her house and she shook her head vehemently, wincing as she did.
"Jamie, I just..." Nya couldn't explain her confusion, her desire, her conflict or her urgent need for more coffee. "...Let's not do this today."
"But let's do it." Jamie said forcefully, then instantly blushing. "Wait. That came out wrong."
Nya giggled. "I know what you meant, I just..." She turned at the sound of a car gunning up the street. "Bloody hell." She growled. "Wanker." She spit out, glaring at the car.
"Uh-oh. Is that...is that AJ?" Jamie asked, staring at the car.
"Yes. It's the dreaded ex." Nya nodded. "You better..."
"I better..."
"I'll see you later."
"Yes, you will." Jamie confirmed. "I have this cool shiny shirt that might work as well as the pants."
"Go away."
