~Madelyn's POV~
I swear if he killed the power to stop this interview, I will rip his trachea out with my bare hands.
"Dammit, Jeff, what did you do?" I demand, followed by an abrupt "fuck!" as I bang my knee standing up from the desk I was using.
"Nothing. Jesus, Maddy!" He hotly defends, before uttering a "ow, fuck!" of his own as what sounds like *his* connects harshly with the coffee table.
Serves him right.
"Well, now what?" I ask, frustrated.
"How the hell should I know?" Jeff throws back at me. "it's not like I'm prepared for electrical outages or snowstorms."
"Weren't you a boy scout?"
"Sorry, I was too busy growing up at tracks and becoming one of the best drivers in the world." He says and I can practically HEAR his sarcastic grin in the dark.
Cocky bastard.
"Jesus, I can't believe there was a time in my life when I thought you were remotely cool." I spit, fumbling around the room, trying to avoid furniture.
"I can't believe there was a time in my life when I thought you were a respectable journalist and dare I say it, a friend."
Friend. Friends don't...
Never mind.
"If my laptop is fried, I will kick your ass."
"Because this is all my fault."
He says sarcastically.
Essentially, yes. At least in my
world, it is.
"Is the phone working?" I ask, trying to be reasonable. "Maybe we could ... "
Jeff shrieks slightly as the phone suddenly rings loudly in the dark.
"That was the manliest sound I've ever heard." I snort as I hear him fumbling for the receiver.
"Why don't you suck me, Madelyn?" He fires at me in frustration as he finds the phone. "Hello?"
Oh, he's gonna pay for that.
I wonder if he would make that same sound if I wrapped my hands around his neck and strangled him in the dark.
