Jimmie froze in the doorway of the small diner.
Sitting in a booth near the window was Junior.
And Kick was sitting right beside him.
He clenched his fists at his sides and forced himself to step into the interior and slide into the nearest booth. Silently he cursed himself for being unable to resist sitting so he could watch the two of them together.
He didn't know why it bothered him so much to see them together.
Actually, he did.
Kick was Chad's friend, which meant she was pretty cool.
Junior was a bastard. Period.
And Lisa and Junior had only hooked up what? A few weeks ago? And already she was out of the picture?
Two years with him, and then she throws it away for 3 weeks with Junior.
Jimmie debated standing back up and walking out the front door when he looked up again and saw Kick staring right at him, a small smile on her lips. She waved a little, as though asking permission for him to acknowledge her.
Forcing a smile, he waved back wanly before ducking back behind a menu. He could feel Junior looking over at him, and then winced when he heard the two of them laughing together.
He had to get out of here.

"Junior? She's with Junior?" Jimmie practically screamed as he stormed into Chad's office.
"Huh?" Chad asked in confusion, taking in Jimmie's flushed cheeks and obviously irate expression. Within minutes, Jimmie filled him in on the diner encounter and Chad tried to organize his thoughts - especially when Jimmie detailed how much it pissed him off to see a nice girl like Kick with a bastard like Junior.
Nice girl?
"I I thought you didn't care about Kick. Why does it bug you, except for the Lisa factor?" Chad asked carefully.
Jimmie blushed slightly and looked down. "Well, after inspection last week I had a chance to talk to her for a while. She's really she's really nice." Jimmie admitted. "Friendly." He added.
Chad smiled a little. About time Jimmie noticed someone other than Lisa in the garage area. "She's a great person. I told you that. Besides, you don't know that she's with Junior. You eat with people all the time - doesn't mean you're with them." Chad reasoned.
"Yeah, I know, but still. Pissed me off." Jimmie said, slumping in his chair.
"You like her billboard smile, don't you?" Chad couldn't resist teasing his driver.
"No, I don't!" Jimmie spat. "I just I don't want to see anyone get hurt by Junior." He said diplomatically.
'Sure', Chad thought to himself. Instead, he shrugged and gave Jimmie a reassuring smile. "I'm sure it's nothing. You can drool over her without worry." He needled.
"Shut the fuck up, Chad. I
don't like her." Jimmie pouted. "I don't."
